I gave my host family the gifts that I brought. Each PC volunteer (at least, each one that I talked to) brought gifts for his/her family. The giving happened on my first day with them.
Here's a recap of what I brought:
The gifts were a success. The chocolates were quickly consumed. The shot glass was used to imbibe raki. The corn and flag found a home near the TV.
Fiks Fare is a staple on our TV. (Pronounced FEEX FAR-eh.) It would take too long to explain the show. Google it.
Also, American TV is common. Tango & Cash is better with shqip subtitles. Much better, in fact.
But I was most pleased that the Iowa cutting board was mounted on their wall with family pictures.
Emin and Hanko are very proud of their family. I feel honored that my gift made it to their photo wall. More on the wall later.
I keep falling asleep and dropping my phone, so I'll just do one of these things to wrap up:
PROFILES IN A21: ANTONIA
Antonia rocks pretty hard. I sit by her in language class. She laughs a lot and has a cheerful demeanor. She went to school at UIC and was in Chicago the same time that I was. She studied anthropology (among other things) and is very smart. Today we went hiking and she helped me up a steep incline. I told her, "you're just a tiny person, I should be helping you, not you helping me" but that's not the way it is. I'm glad she was looking out for me.
Hi Bud! Sure is great to read your posts! I'm very proud of you! Did you find our favorite yet? Chocolate Malts! Lol
ReplyDeleteWhat is the time difference from Iowa?
Love ya!
